Uğur Önür

Uğur Önür is a kabak kemane master, researcher, and broadcaster dedicated to the musical heritage of Anatolia’s Teke region. A graduate of Istanbul Technical University’s Turkish Music State Conservatory, his work moves fluidly between performance, field research, and contemporary interpretation.

Beyond the stage, Önür has played an active role in documenting endangered musical practices, including regional instrumental traditions and the rare vocal technique known as boğaz çalma (throat playing). He has contributed to national archive projects with TRT, helping record and preserve hundreds of folk melodies from the Burdur and Isparta regions.

A permanent artist at TRT Radio since 2015, Önür has performed at major international festivals and cultural venues across Europe, Asia, and Australia. Since 2021, he has also been preparing and presenting the Zamâne program on TRT Music, continuing to bridge tradition with the present.
