Uçan da Kuşlara

Digital Album

Seyyah, formed by musicians from Turkey and Europe, is the leading collective of Istanbul’s New Anatolian folk music scene, reshaping a musical memory rooted in Anatolia and its surrounding regions through the urban sounds of today.

Seyyah’s music is grounded in a strong and distinctive relationship with traditional forms. A rich palette of instruments; including zurna, violin, oud, clarinet, kaval, guitar, bass guitar, üçtelli, baglamadaki, oğur sazı, cello, duduk, rebab, tütek, and traditional percussion comes together with intricately crafted vocal harmonies,  to create an intimate, dynamic, and entirely acoustic sound world that moves fluidly between the familiar and the new.

Seyyah’s second studio album, “Uçan da Kuşlara,” looks from today’s Istanbul toward Anatolia. Centered on the Anatolian geography, the album brings together influences from the Teke region, the Black Sea, and the Caucasus; forms such as zeybek and halay; and languages including Armenian and Kurdish, standing side by side within the same musical landscape.

Across its 14 tracks, the album features 11 traditional folk songs arranged by Seyyah, alongside 2 original compositions and 1 folk song reinterpreted with lyrics written by Seyyah.

Shaped by an acoustic and carefully crafted approach within the framework of new Anatolian folk, the album invites its listeners to gather around a shared table in search of belonging.
