Şarköy Karşılaması brings together the traditional sounds of Şarköy and the wider Thrace region, with a particular focus on the living musical heritage of the area’s Roma communities. Led by clarinetist Berke Yiğit Satılmış, the album documents traditional çiftetelli, karşılama, gayda and regional folk melodies that are increasingly rarely recorded and performed.

The project grew out of Satılmış’s long-standing engagement with the musical traditions of his hometown, together with four master musicians from the region. Recorded in a single day at the ITU MIAM Studios with the support of Prof. Dr. Can Karadoğan and MIAM students, the album aims to preserve the character of these local traditions while presenting them through a professional studio recording.

Named after Şarköy’s Camikebir neighborhood, Camikebir Band brings together five experienced musicians whose playing reflects the distinctive rhythmic, melodic and performance traditions of Thrace.
